This addition to the previously designed community center arose from the community's desire and need for a year round soccer facility.
The 85' x 190' indoor field is surfaced with filled artificial turf, to realistically replicate natural turn. A spectator area was provided to allow for tournament and competitive events. To further expand the program possibilities of the center, an additional 70' x 90' gymnasium was constructed adjacent to the existing gymnasium, to allow for simultaneous large scale events to occur. Those events range from Volleyball and Basketball to banquets and meetings. All flooring is high performance multi-use surfaces to allow for easy change over between events, without sacrificing the athletic performance.
From the opening reception, this facility has been running at full capacity until approximately 11:00 pm each evening. Likewise the gymnasium has added another venue for expanded programs and associated revenue. All of which are a testament to the design collaboration that took place between Payto Architects and the Salem Community Foundation
