The program for this project was to update the interior of the 1970s branch campus library and integrate new computer labs, circulation desk, an electronic classroom, and reorientation of the functions of the library. Due to the nature of the Campus, the Library served a purpose of a center of student activities. This is prevalent in the technological improvements, which were at the core of the program for this project. A large area of the first floor was converted into a student only computer lab and Cyber Café for internet access. Study lounges and an Electronic Classroom were created on the second floor. With a very limited budget and time frame, Payto Architects was able to take a full wish list of items and collectively prioritize them into publicly bid documents through a series of alternate bids. This allowed us to achieve all the University's goals while staying under budget. |
