The program for this project was to relocate the campus switchboard and reception to the main entrance of Main Hall, which is the primary classroom building for the campus. This provides a new image and welcoming feel for the campus visitors. Challenges included: Acoustic improvements, security of computer and phone equipment at the new desk, re-cladding existing interior brick walls, and lighting upgrades to improve the quality of light and general aesthetics.
The solution conisted of a new wood reception desk, accommodating (2) staff members, which has roll top closures to lock off computers and desktop areas at the end of the day. Wood and acoustic panels were affixed over interior walls to conceal existing brick and aluminum accents tie in the exterior features of the building. Incandescent column mounted fixtures were replaced with metal halide indirect fixtures to greatly improve the lighting and energy effiecency. Quartz tile flooring replaced former clay tile flooring at the main entrance.
