The Cleveland Clinic, one of the world's leading medical facilities, commissioned Payto Architects to renovate the circa 1970s auditorium and pre-function space into a state of the art, interactive learning center. The space consists of 165 fixed seats with tablet arms and power outlets at each seat with communications transmitted via wireless connection. In conjunction with the auditorium, an existing MRI & Radiology suite was converted into an instructional Wet Lab, which allows physicians to perform procedures on cadavers and limbs. The auditorium and wet lab are connected through an audio visual system which allows the audience to view and interact with those performing the procedures, in turn creating a surgical learning environment for 165+ participants. The purpose of the facility is to serve not only hospital functions but also to create a multi-functional learning environment to support the growing teaching mission of the Clinic.
