NATIONAL FISH RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT CENTER

This award-winning facility began as a $12.2 million program that meets all the client's needs within a $3.4 million budget. The facility uses up to 3 million gallons of water daily to maintain more than 6,000 pounds of live fish. Cold well water (46 degrees Fahrenheit) cools the facility, eliminating the need for refrigeration equipment. A gravity-operated fresh water system reduces the need for mechanical pumping equipment. The facility is a model of efficiency, yielding a 24% annual savings in operating costs. Wood-sided buildings blend quietly into the surrounding countryside.
