kent state university REGIONAL ACADEMIC CENTER WORKPLACE

Payto Architects was commissioned to design this 45,000sf new academic facility as a new home for the ever-growing Twinsburg Academic Center. A large portion of the building is divoted to administrative and faculty offices. The design team utilized open office plans and hotelling strategies to accomodate part-time faculty members. The offices utilize daylighting strategies and occupancy sensors to reduce energy use.
The Regional Academic Center also features an executive education suite designed to house the University's Executive MBA program. These flexible classrooms feature tables and ergonomic chairs which can be reconfigured to be suit the users needs. The classrooms are fully integrated with state of the art technology and supported by a shared catering kitchen. In addition to their intended use for the Executive MBA program, the rooms have been reserved for University Board meetings and community meetings. A dedicated break-out space gives users a place to gather outside the classroom.
