kent state univeristy ASHTABULA STUDENT SERVICES & COMMONS RENOVATIONS

The Main Hall building at KSU Ashtabula has seen very little change since its construction in the 1960's. This project is a direct result of the Masterplan Payto Architects developed for the campus which seeks to unify the campus structures, and improve the student experience within the buildings. This project has 3 major programs: Student Services, Commons and Student Lounge. The Student Services office consists of the Advisors, Admissions Officers and Financial Aid Officers. In the new plan, these offices are housed in a single area to create an efficient one-stop model of student service. The Commons are the cafeteria area for the campus. This project includes a massive upgrade to the Food Service Kitchen as well as a bright and cheerful seating area that is open to the surrounding spaces. The Student Lounge is a new program within Main Hall and will give students a place to socialize and study between classes. The lounge features a fireplace, comfortable seating, group study tables and digital commons. The Commons is visually connected to the student lounge and the area promises to become a vibrant new hub of student activity.
