KENT STATE UNIVERSITY - MOULTON HALL RENOVATIONS

Location: Mentor, Ohio
Type: Workplace
Year: 2022

Payto Architects provided full A/E services for this $3,000,000 renovation to Moulton Hall for the new home of the College of Public Health. The scope of the project has 3 different types of work included. New finishes give the entry lobby and corridors an updated look and identity for the college. The second floor includes a new instructional lab classroom that can be divided into two, including a fume hood and bio-safety cabinet for demonstrations. The third floor includes a research lab as well as an instructional BSL-3 lab to train students and researchers in proper laboratory practices and protocols. Biological agents will be used in all the 3rd floor lab spaces.
Payto Architects worked diligently with KSU staff and faculty in planning and designing the most efficient and functional lab spaces to meet their growing needs. Additional storage space and areas of expansion were integrated into the project to meet both current and future needs of the College of Public Health. The classroom spaces not only allow for science based instructional but also have the principals and flexibility of active learning. This allows the provost office to schedule for a multitude of different subjects.
